Today’s wardrobe is three shades of black – five if you count the socks – and purple shoes which need a clean.
That’s one thing you notice when you wear black a lot (apart from it hides all the dirt): there are so many distinct shades of it! Makes sense of the ‘black’ painting in the National Gallery of Australia that cops a lot of flak. It’s actually a very subtle and beautiful statement about the moment you walk outside in your supposedly simple outfit and realise that all your blacks clash. Well, that’s my reading of it, anyway.
And if you iron them (which I rarely do), you can see even more.
Yeah, that’s my excuse for not ironing 😉
Old wives tale said that you drop 5lb for every foot of black and note the 5lb, that’s how far back I heard this. I’ve lived by it ever since.
